Photo Quest #103 – Show us your wildlife

It was a little difficult for me to look for wildlife because most of flowers, parks and animals I can see here are not wild ones.  Anyway, I went to Expo’70 Memorial Park with my cameras.  Fortunately I met some insects in the park and all the insects in the park are, yes, wildlife.

Dragonfly:  PENTAX K200D + TAMRON 272E (Manual mode, f/6.3, 1/160, ISO200)

Praying mantis:  PENTAX K200D + TAMRON 272E (Av mode, f/4.0, 1/800, ISO200)

Bee:  PENTAX K200D + TAMRON 272E (Tv mode, f/2.8, 1/1000, ISO400)

I just re-seized these three photos.

  2. Mantises are so cool! One of my colleagues once babysat a coccoon of mantis eggs, which hatched – the tiny, tiny babies were adorable!

    Lovely colours on your pictures!

Dragonfly has a tendency that it comes back to the same place even if it flies away. So I patiently waited the dragonfly :) For bee, I set my camera shutter speed priority and tried to get clear image of bee.

I’m afraid I don’t meet baby praying mantis for long time…

  5. Great photos Yan. You surprised me I thought you would take photos of wild people in bars! lol

Your photos show great composition, color and details. They are show great thought in how you take your photos. I like the flower with the bee the best.

It’s still very difficult for me to take photos of flying insects but the shot is my best one of that :)
